Multiple entities
Use the Tipalti Multi-EntityAn entity can be a subsidiary, division, business unit, brand, etc. of your organization. Entities can have similar or different AP processes and workflows. feature to manage payer entities separately while maintaining a consolidated view of all AP activity. Entities can be subsidiaries, divisions, business units, brands, etc. of your organization, which have similar or different AP processes and workflows.
With the Multi-Entity feature enabled, Tipalti provides you with a headquarters payer account, which is associated with multiple entities. This single platform saves you time and mitigates risk by allowing each entity to operate with the correct workflow while maintaining local autonomy and control for audit preparedness, financial controls, financial reporting, fraud prevention, and visibility purposes. The headquarters account provides instant and transparent visibility across the extended enterprise.
Capability
Tipalti Multi-Entity allows you to:
- Assign one entity to each payee (see Add new payee)
- Bills module:
- Assign one entity to each invoice/ bill (see Upload an invoice PDF or image and Upload invoices using CSV), which overrides the entity assigned to the payee
- Assign GLA general ledger (GL) is used for recording transactions related to business assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses. accounts per entity (see GL accounts file)
- Define which users can view and process bills of specific entities (see Add new user and edit user)
- Dedicate a unique email account per entity for incoming invoices (see Multi-entity email configuration)
- Branded email communication with payees:
- Configure payee and payer email settings per entity (see Configure email notifications)
- Define a different sender address per entity
- Customize who is sending the emails to the payees
- Manage different queues per entity
- Associate specific email templates with individual entities and ensure unique brand and messaging per entity (see Edit templates)

iFrame and Supplier Hub:
- Display different payment method options per entity
- Use different tax onboarding flows (e.g., US forms, VAT IDValue-Added Tax Identification Number) per entity, if the Taxation module is enabled
- Maintain a Tipalti virtual account per entity (payment flows are routed automatically based on the defined entity per payment/ payee)
- Apply filters by entity for reconciliation and reporting purposes
- Enable Tipalti modules at the headquarters level for all entities
