iFrame / Supplier Hub
The iFrame/ Supplier Hub allows payees to provide their credentials, such as address, payment method and tax forms to the payer and Tipalti for payment processing. It also provides payees with the ability to track the status of their payments and invoices, and view the history. Since the Supplier Hub offers the same functionality as the iFrame, the following information is relevant to both systems.
TipaltiAIArtificial Intelligence validates payment and tax information (and determines withholding) during payee onboarding.

"Payment Details" tab
To become "payable" (able to receive payments), a payee must complete the following steps on the "Payment Details" tab of the iFrame. Select a step below to reveal further details.
On the "Address" page, the payee completes the email address, name and mailing address fields. The name and address must appear exactly as in the payee's bank records. When finished, the payee goes to the "Payment Method" page.
Tipalti does not accept P.O.Post Office box or in-care-of (c/o) addresses, with the exception of APOArmy Post Office or FPOFleet Post Office boxes.
On the "Payment Method" page, the payee selects a preferred payment method. Supported payment methods differ per country and per funding currency (see Payment methods coverage for details).
- If the payer has defined payee transaction fees, these fees display and may differ per payment method.
- If the payer has multiple entities, the payee is linked automatically to the default entityAn entity can be a subsidiary, division, business unit, brand, etc. of your organization. Entities can have similar or different AP processes and workflows.. The transaction fees display according to what was defined for the default entity (the payee can later be linked to a different entity, if required).
Depending on the country that has been identified on the "Address" page, the payee also selects a payment currency. Payment amounts are converted to the payee currency on the day of transfer using the bank's conversion rate. Foreign exchange fees are then applied.
Payment methods
Available payment methods display in a dropdown list for the payee. When the dropdown is not expanded, the default payment method shows in the field. The payee must expand the dropdown to see all the available options.
Payment methods display in the fixed order listed below. The default payment method is the first one listed (Direct Deposit/ ACHAutomated Clearing House). If this method is unavailable, the default is the second listed payment method. If the first and second methods are unavailable, the default is the third payment method, and so on.
Select a payment method below to reveal further information.
ACH direct deposit is governed by NACHANational Automated Clearing House Association and is an electronic transfer of funds from sender to recipient. It's the most cost-effective method to deposit funds directly, in local currency, into the payee's bank account.
The payment information required from the payee differs per country. Common required fields are:
- Payment Currency
- Name on Account
- Bank Name
- SWIFTSociety for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication or Routing Code
- Country
A minimum threshold can be defined by the payer, if desired.
Global ACH / Local Bank Transfer is similar to ACH direct deposit, but applies to many non-US countries (see Payment methods coverage for a complete list). Generally, there is no minimum threshold for payments; however, some currencies may have a maximum limit.
Wire transfer is a direct bank-to-bank transaction. It's the fastest method to deposit funds directly, in local currency, to the payee's bank account. Using the most advantageous currency exchange rates, this method maximizes the amount of local currency the payee receives when compared to transfers in USD that are converted to local currency.
The payee can add intermediary bank information (i.e., intermediary bank's SWIFT code, name and account number), if necessary, by clicking the "Add intermediary bank information" link below the "Country" field.
Generally, there is no minimum threshold for payments; however, some currencies may require a minimum amount.
The payment information required from the payee differs per country. Common required fields are:
- Payment Currency
- Name on Account
- SWIFT
- Country
Check refers to paper checks. The payee must provide the name to be written on the check and the address where to send the check. The payee is advised to allow 15 business days for the check to arrive. Checks are for deposit only and cannot be transferred.
The minimum threshold for payment via paper check is USD 50.00.
PayPal is an eWallet service that allows payees to receive payments. There is no minimum threshold for payments and PayPal transaction and withdrawal fees apply. Payees need to provide a PayPal email address in the iFrame and select the currency in which they want to be paid. If they do not select a currency, they are paid in the following currency by default:
- If the local currency is supported, it is the default.
- If the local currency is not supported, Euros is the default.
In PayPal receipts, as well as the payee's PayPal account activity and payment email notifications, the payer's name and details display, not Tipalti's.

Tipalti supports the following PayPal payment currencies. This list may be updated periodically.

A prepaid debit card is a debit card preloaded with money. Intercash is a global provider of prepaid cards, which can be used at over 29 million locations worldwide where Mastercards are accepted (e.g., ATMs, point of sale, online purchases). There is no payment thresholdThe minimum/maximum amount that can be disbursed per payee currency and payment method.
To get paid using a prepaid debit card, the payee must apply for a Mastercard® prepaid debit card issued by Intercash. Intercash provides the payee with a SANSecondary Account Number, which must be entered in the iFrame.
An Intercash account can receive up to USD 500.00 in a single payment. Payees can increase the limit by upgrading their account level through the Intercash account dashboard.
The payee can choose to have payments held by the payer company. No disbursement is made until the payee changes this selection.
Streamline the payment process with pay by card. Use Tipalti's virtual cards to make USD payments to US-based payees who accept card payments. Payees can manage transactions made using their Tipalti virtual card in the same way they manage payments made using a regular credit card. Using virtual cards provides clear and traceable transaction records, simplifying the payment and reconciliation process.
When the "Payment Method" page has been completed, the payee goes to the "Tax Forms" page (if the Taxation module has been activated).
Payment threshold
The payer may enable payment thresholds. If enabled, for each payment method, the system clearly identifies the minimum threshold for payment (i.e., the minimum amount that is to be disbursed).
If the "Payee threshold" feature is enabled, an "Edit my payment threshold" link displays below the selected payment method. Payees can click this link to define their own payment threshold for any payment method (except the "Hold My Payments" option). The payee threshold cannot be lower than the one defined by the payer.
In addition, there may be thresholds defined by the payment provider. Payees receive payments only when the payment amount is above the highest minimum threshold value. Until then, payments are deferred.
If the Taxation module has been activated, the payer company is required to collect tax declarations from payees. The following tax forms are offered on the "Tax Forms" page of the iFrame.
To ensure payees complete the correct form, Tipalti provides a tax questionnaire to help determine which US tax form is required. If the payer requires a local tax or value-added tax (VAT) identification number, these fields display on the "Tax Forms" page for payees to complete (see Non-US tax collection).
Payees can view their online tax forms at any time. Forms that were completed manually cannot be viewed online, but can be downloaded from the iFrame following payer approval.
Address validation
Tipalti validates the following types of payee addresses for new and existing payees:
- Contact address
- "Check" payment method address
- Tax form addresses (W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, and W-9)
Addresses are validated automatically in the iFrame when the payee selects the "Next" or "Save" button on each of the following pages:
- "Address" page - After entering contact information
- "Payment Method" page - After selecting "Check" as the payment method
- "Tax Forms" page - After submitting tax forms (W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, and W-9)
Address validation results
There are three types of validation results:
- Payee address not verified - The payee needs to confirm the address provided.
- Payee address verified
- Payee address verified but with address change suggestion - If, for example, the payee made an error while typing or the zip code is incorrect, etc., the system suggests the relevant changes. The payee can choose to change the address to the suggested one.
Documents
If payees are required to submit additional documents regarding taxation or if you have the Documents module enabled, a "Documents" page displays after the "Tax Forms" page on the "Payment Details" tab. Payees can use this page to upload documents for payer review.
Additional information
Select an option below to learn more.
Once payees are registered with the iFrame, they can update their information, as long as there are no restrictions on accounts.
Please be aware that a change in any of the following information may erase banking information and/ or invalidate tax forms. A payee cannot be paid without complete banking information on file and valid tax forms (if tax forms are required).
- First name
- Last name
- Company name
- Contact address country
- Payment details country
- Phone number
A change of letter case (e.g., "amy" to "Amy") in the payee's name fields will not invalidate the payee's tax form.
All changes made in the iFrame must be reviewed and approved (or declined) by the payer in the Tipalti Hub (see Find payees pending review). If changes are declined, the payee is unpayable until the issues are resolved.
If the payer changes payee details via the payee API or Tipalti Hub, or the payer invalidates the payee's tax form via the Tipalti Hub, an email notification of the change is sent to the payee.
Compliance checks
If payees edit the following fields in the iFrame too many times, a compliance check is triggered and a risk case is opened.
- First name
- Last name
- PayPal email
- Residence country or state
Payees are asked to upload documents and explain the reason for the change. They are also informed that future payments are on hold. Further changes cannot be made while the risk case is open.
Payee information is verified, and the changes are either approved by our Compliance Team or the payee is blocked.
On the "Invoice History" or "Payment History" tabs of the iFrame, payees can:

- Upload new invoices for payer review
- Track pending invoices and payments (i.e., view statuses)
- View the payer entity assigned to each invoice and payment
- View and download invoice and payment history (including related invoices)
