Approve purchase requests New Procurement Experience
If you’re an approver, you can review purchase requests from Home or in Slack. Use the budget bar to check if it’s within budget, helping you decide if you want to approve it or not.
When you receive a purchase request, the submitter may have split it into purchase lines to reflect the company’s budget allocation.You can review and edit it as needed, ensuring the purchase lines are coded correctly in line with the budget. Alternatively, if the purchase wasn’t split, you can split it in our Finance section.
Home and the new Procurement experience is being gradually rolled out throughout 2025.
- When
Home displays in the left menu, you know you’re on the new Procurement experience.
- If you’re not using Home yet, you can review and approve a purchase request by email or from Purchases in the Tipalti Hub.
To approve a purchase:
In the Tipalti Hub, go to Home > To do > To approve and open a purchase request.

In the Purchase details tab, review the details.
To make any changes, click Edit in the top right of the details.
The tabs that display depend on your procurement settings. You can review any tab you’re given access to.
A budget bar indicates if the purchase is within budget.
The budget bar is based on the budget your admin uploaded to the Tipalti Hub.
If you want to ask the vendor a few questions, you can message them using Comments on the right. The vendor can reply from the Supplier Hub.

You can split or review the coding for a split purchase request in our Finance section.
Click Edit and toggle right Split by.
Select how you want to split it from the dropdown.
Review, edit or add purchase lines to specify how you want to split the purchase, based on your company’s budget distributions.
Use the add or delete icons to add or delete a purchase line.
Both submitters and approvers can split the purchase into purchase lines to reflect your company’s budget allocation.
To approve the request, click Approve. The request is sent to the next person in the approval flow.
To reject the request, click Reject. Enter a reason for rejecting the purchase request, and click Reject again.
After you approve or reject a request, you can view it in All my items tab in Home.
Alternatively, if you have access, you can view them in Procurement > Purchases.

Once a purchase request is approved and you create a purchase orderA purchase order (PO) is a legally binding contract established between you and your supplier that outlines types, quantities, and agreed upon prices for products or services (PO), the PO is linked to the request.
If you want to receive notifications through Slack about approving purchase requests, you can turn this on in your profile settings:
Click your profile icon in the top right corner.
Go to NOTIFICATIONS, and toggle right Connect to Slack.
Follow the steps to connect to Slack.
Once your account connects to Slack, you’ll receive notifications about purchase requests that are pending your approval.
